Community Arts
Art is a way to express yourself and an important part of play, making it an integral part of a child’s development. It helps to develop children in communication, working with others and how to express themselves in different ways.
Research has shown that many children and young people across Merseyside are only able to access a limited range of arts activities. Therefore, here at MPAC, we are one of few organisations who use professional artists to work alongside children and young people outside of the school environment to ensure they have the opportunity to access arts activities and express themselves.
Arts Projects
At MPAC, we understand the importance of arts activities in the development of children and young people. It helps them to explore, acknowledge and express their creative abilities in a non-school environment.
The art projects we provide incorporate hands on learning so children and young people alike are able to master skills they may not have been able to acquire at school or home. They learn about responsibility, how to communicate with adults and each other, how to create friendships, resolve conflicts and discover solutions to problems.
The skills and energy children and young people develop from our arts projects are beneficial, relevant and can be applied in all aspects of their lives.
Professional Artists
Here at MPAC we have worked extensively with a number of professional artists, who support us in our belief in community arts projects being significant to a child’s development.
We therefore have the ability to both plan and run community arts projects, which play an important role in our Arts in Play Programme.
As well as providing art projects for children and young people we also offer a mentoring scheme for young artists who wish to gain experience of working in a community and charity environment.
Exhibition of Artwork
The artwork created by the children and young people on our arts projects or by those on our art residencies is regularly displayed in exhibitions hosted by ourselves.
Our exhibitions help develop children’s and young people’s confidence not just in their creative abilities, but in their overall esteem for themselves. We believe confidence is a significant factor in the development of children and young people as confidence exudes confidence.
Arts Programme
Merseyside Play Action Council is now an AQA (Assessment and Qualification Alliance ) awarding centre.
The scheme is based on a unit or modular approach with areas of work or activity presented to students as a series of individual units.
MPAC is also an Arts Awards Registered Centre with Trinity College London
